Everyday life interview || Anna Emilia Laitinen

WHAT DOES EVERYDAY LIFE MEAN TO YOU?
It means early mornings, many cups of tea and long walks. The silence of mornings is my favourite time to work: to paint, to answer emails and "research" with books and newspapers, music and memories to get inspired. It is also the moment when everything can be left behind and a cozy evening can be started with cooking, friends and being outdoors.
CAN YOU SHARE A DAILY RITUAL WITH US?
Usually before noon time I have a small moment to think what I am doing and to sip some tea. It is good to stand up when something is not yet finished and have a little while to just enjoy. And then get back to the painting knowing exactly what the next brush stroke is about.
HOW DO YOU BREAK THE PATTERN OF DAILY LIFE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE?
As I work at home, it is lovely to have lunch or walk with a friend once in a while. It can be also a short phone call to just anyone or raking autumn leaves at summerhouse or a walk in the forest. Traveling and walking in a new place makes me always very happy.

Anna Emilia is a Finnish illustrator and painter. Her work consists of scenes of nature and weather, both documented in the very finest detail. On her blog called 'weather diary' she writes about daily life, nature and most of all the weather. She documents the seasons in gentle, poetic words. Every since I first stumbled upon her blog, it has been my go to place to bring a little bit of magical Finland right on my Dutch doorstep. Last but not least, in her shop you can find prints, postcards and books by her hand.
