EVERYDAY LIFE INTERVIEW / T.H. MURPHY

/ 16 July 2012

What does everyday life mean to you?

Everyday life means : wake, kids, train, coffee, work, stress, fun, sandwich, work, stress, laugh, run, train, eat, talk, read, sleep.

Can you share a daily ritual with us?

Every day (well, nearly every day) I make breakfast for my two children, Sadie and Ellis. She likes oatmeal, he is a scrambled eggs man.  It's a wonderful way to forget for a moment about all of the other things going on in my life, and simply focus on the here and now.

How do you break the pattern of daily life every once in a while?

Travel is the best way to break the pattern. It is absolutely necessary to occasionally disrupt your routines - get in the car, or in a plane or on a train, and go. Create an entirely new pattern for a few days or a week or, if you're lucky, a little longer.
